What I liked about the old Torb for example, is that he gave armor in a very active manner, worthy of counterplay. I don't know if we need to overly tune down healing and barriers in this game (even though it wouldn't hurt), but we definitely need more nuances and negative synergy. No armor piercing or anti heal (except Ana). The problem is there is no way to cause negative synergy in return. less audio on his teleport, getting his lifesteal, buffing his lifesteal to 30%, buffing his spread pattern.

No, nothings changed, he has never been a viable pick outside of beyblade and second point anubis in pro play.Įven though he received many, many buffs since then:Īmmo refilled on wraith, wraith speedboost + able to cancel his wraith. > Things have changed, shouldn't we be asking why? Reaper was potato before brig went live, sure she didn't help his case but it's not like she single-handedly made him trash. He's barely (generously) 40% better at his niche role than the most flexible hero in overwatch that has been in 90+% of all pro games for more then 2 years. Shield break? 40% better than Dva without counting micro missiles and as soon as he is at mid range his spread will make him miss a lot.

Has there even been a full or even half a map of reaper played by any pro team outside of beyblade meta?Īnd talking about his "niches", he was never good against tanks, sure against rein + winston he's good but as soon as you have 3+ tanks, he's garbage. A random pro playing reaper on ladder doesn't make him a viable pick in pro play. Reaper has really only been played in beyblade meta because of ana and on second point anubis. Maybe he needs a more fundamental change or some other hero needs changes to make him viable. I think we should wait for Brig nerfs to come live, then we can decide if either Reaper or D.Va needs a change.ĮDIT: It has just occurred to me that Reaper has in fact already been changed more than once. When it comes to D.Va Reaper definitely gets shut down because of armor/matrix, and this has been a concern of the devs themselves.

Roadhog because he's a hero that deals a similar form of damage and competes directly with Reaper for the same role, although I do believe Reaper fairs well against him once his hook has baited so I'm not sure on this one. Personally Roadhog and D.Va seem to be the likely culprits. If this is the case we'll see how well Reaper will fair once her nerfs go live. Maybe it wasn't the Tanks, maybe it was Brig and her armor. Tanks like Roadhog, Zarya, Winston, and D.Va have all been buffed to varying degrees, so its hard to pinpoint which change or changes meant that Reaper could no longer deal with them as effectively. In every other respect Reapers strengths tend to be lackluster with armor specifically countering him. Reaper is a hero who occupies a Niche: dealing a lot of damage to Tanks and Shields. There's not much that can be done for the first one without just simply saying "buff Reaper" so lets consider what might have changed for the sake of argument. Some change made to the game has rendered Reaper ineffective.People got better at the game and Reaper fell off in the process. The way I see it, the most likely explanations are either Things have changed, shouldn't we be asking why? Mind you the clips I've posted tend to have nano Reaper, but even regardless of nano Reaper was viable no? He was definitely an option in tournaments. There was a time when it wasn't rare for both teams to run Reaper.

Plus is armor truly what is holding Reaper back? We ought to remember that armor was introduced in the first place to combat how strong Reaper and Tracer were.
